Belonging
This piece, called ‘Belonging’, lives in Lethbridge. It depicts two figures, Mother and Daughter in spacesuits, floating over a sunrise in a strange, distorted Lethbridge landscape. The mural is encapsulated in an Art Deco era frame - the building it’s painted on was built around 1910 or so. The frame has jewels at each corner, each engraved with a different symbol referencing time or a sense of searching. The frame also exposes a system of gears at the base, partially obscured by overgrown flora. The mother figure has the word ng’st (queen) in Amharic script on her belt. Piney P is posted up in there as well.
