Instrumental

This work is inspired by the work of another, the poet Dwennimmen. The first installation was located on the title wall of the John and Maggie Mitchell Gallery in Edmonton. Partly built from found materials, selections of the poet’s words from a poem, Instrumental, are found throughout the piece. Shapes in the work reference geographical formations from Canada and the Caribbean. The image of Dwennimmen is inspired by a photograph taken by Tracy O’Camera. A second installation was staged at the home of the Black Girl Magic collective in Edmonton.
